Shandong First Medical University & Shandong Academy of Medical Science

In order to optimize the higher education structure, Shandong Provincial Government implemented the reform of integration of science and education and therefore Taishan Medical University, Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences, Shandong Provincial Hospital, Shandong Provincial Qianfoshan Hospital and other resources were merged to form Shandong First Medical University (SDFMU). SDFMU, together with Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences, was officially established in February 2019. SDFMU offers 45 undergraduate programs, 5 first-tier disciplines among 67 master’s programs, 1 first-tier discipline of doctoral program and 1 Post-doctoral Research Center. Clinical medicine, pharmacology and toxicology, and biology and biochemistry are ranked top 1% by Essential Science Indicators (ESI). SDFMU currently employs more than 15,000 faculty members, including 5 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 2,966 professional technicians at or above the deputy senior level, and 6031 masters and doctors. And there are 13 directly affiliated hospitals.
