Job Details
PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviews and updates patients medical history
- Performs intraoral and extraoral examinations and records in chart
- Takes radiographic x-rays as directed by the dentist
- Removes calculus and plaque (hard and soft deposits) from all surfaces of the teeth
- Applies preventative materials to the teeth (ie: sealants and fluorides)
- Makes impressions of patients' teeth for study casts
- Teaches patients appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health
- Counsels patients about good nutrition and its impact on oral health
- Performs oral prophylaxis
- Elects appropriate healthcare method and instructs patients on oral hygiene and care method
- Performs cross cover duties as a Dental Assistant
- Performs any other duties, as assigned
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience:
- Completion of bachelor's degree in dental hygiene with Two (2) years of experience post qualification
Or
- Completion of diploma in dental hygiene (minimum two (2) years course duration with Four (4) years of experience post qualification
Certification and Licensure
- Hold a valid DOH, DHA, or MOH license
Job Specific Skills and Abilities
- Ability to work independently
- Sufficient manual dexterity to handle and operate various dental equipment
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Proficient in the use of Pcs and spreadsheets
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to speak and write in English is required
