Job Details

The Division of Hematologic Malignancies and Cellular Therapy (HMCT), in the Department of Medical Oncology, at Thomas Jefferson University, in Philadelphia, PA is looking for a Lymphoma Section Chief to grow and advance the academic and clinical missions of the Division's Lymphoma Section. The position comes with a leadership role in the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center (SKCC) clinical trials office (CTO), as Chair of the Lymphoma Multidisciplinary Disease Group (MDG). The Lymphoma Section Chief will also join the recently established SKCC's Blood Cancer Center of Excellence (BCCE), tasked with the goal to expand and deepen hematologic malignancy research at Jefferson.

The Division of HMCT, based in center city Philadelphia, comprises 16 full time faculty, including two laboratory-based scientists, who are recognized nationally and internationally for excellence in patient care, research and training. Every year, Division faculty and nurses provide complex multidisciplinary and personalized care to patients with all types of hematologic malignancies, including rare and highly complex blood cancers, attracting referrals nationally and internationally.

The Division is a national leader in the development of new therapies for blood cancers, with a pipeline of clinical trials that is managed by three disease-specific (Lymphoma, Myeloma, and Leukemia/MDS) and one modality-specific (BMT/CART) MDGs and includes CART- and CAR-NK cell therapies, molecularly targeted therapies, and novel immunotherapies. The Division's clinical trial portfolio is further enhanced by an outstanding Phase I program, in academic partnership with the Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI), and a strong and innovative Health Delivery Research effort.

The Division's translational research mission is supported by the Translational Research Group (TRG) and Biorepository, a CAP-accredited SKCC shared resource that provides tissue, blood, and bone marrow bio-banking services.

The ideal candidate will be an outstanding disease-focused academic physician at the Associate Professor rank, with national reputation and a proven record of success in leading clinical and translational research studies in lymphoma, mentoring, and team building.

The SKCC is an NCI-designated consortium cancer center that includes researchers from Thomas Jefferson University and Drexel University and offers outstanding shared core facilities. Further details can be found at: https://sidneykimmelcancercenter.jeffersonhealth.org/research.html

The SKCC is located in the heart of Philadelphia, a vibrant urban cultural scene with an abundance of opportunities for professional and social interactions.
