Job Description:
To provide medical expertise to support patients in living the healthiest lives possible.

Essential Job Duties
  • Provide patient care that meets or exceeds the standard of care for the specialty(s) or subspecialty(s) of practice.
  • Provide clinical services including diagnosis, evaluation, and treatment of conditions requiring medical care.
  • Provide clinical services in-person or via telehealth, as appropriate.
  • Consult with other providers as requested and provide referring providers and Intermountain with written reports on results of examinations within a reasonable time following such requests.
  • Perform patient care duties at the location(s) and according to the schedule determined by the specialty and site of care to meet the availability needs of Intermountain and its staff during site of care hours as established by Intermountain.
  • Assist the site of care lead physician and Medical Director, in coordination with other Intermountain physicians, in finding coverage by a qualified physician if unable to perform duties when scheduled.
  • Maintain the volume of care defined by the standards set by the specialty, subspecialty, and site of care.
  • Engage in effective, professional collaboration with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Contribute to the development, improvement, and implementation of process and other continuous improvement activities.
  • Adhere to all professional expectations as set forth in the Intermountain Physician & APP Handbook, your letter of agreement, Intermountain policies and procedures, and medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations and policies of Intermountain facilities where privileged.
  • Be a role model of Intermountain values and professionalism by creating and nurturing a psychologically safe workplace and cultivate an atmosphere of teamwork and mutual respect among all Intermountain providers, staff and administration, as well as affiliated physicians.
  • Work to achieve goals that are established in accordance with the process applicable to physicians employed by Intermountain.
  • As requested, provide input regarding site of care staff and assist with the selection and onboarding of caregivers.
  • When applicable for the role and specialty or subspecialty, take a share of call, which includes holiday call, in accordance with the standards of the applicable specialty's or subspecialty's protocols and processes ("Protocols") and hospital's medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and policies. This may include more than one type of call (e.g., hospital call and clinic call). Call duties can include the following:

○ Hospital Emergency Coverage and On-Call Schedule:

■ Provide emergency/on-call coverage as required by the physician's primary hospital campus. Call schedules will be coordinated and set by the applicable hospital campus, with input from physician, the hospital-site lead physician and/or Medical Director, hospital administration, and in conjunction with other Intermountain physicians.

■ Ensure appropriate coverage for the admission and care of physician's patients being admitted to the hospital.

■ While on call, be immediately available by phone and available on-site in accordance with the Protocols and medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations and policies.

○ Clinic/Ambulatory Coverage:

■ Be available to receive telephone calls from established patients and from other healthcare providers outside of business hours regarding established patients or consults on a rotation determined by the clinic. This duty may occur contemporaneously with the hospital emergency call schedule for care of hospitalized patients.

Minimum Requirements
  • Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree; or equivalent if education is completed outside the United States
  • Completion of graduate medical education training program in the specialty(s) or subspecialty(s) of practice. Graduate education must be obtained through an ACGME or AOA accredited institution
  • ABMS or equivalent AOA Board Certification in the specialty(s) or subspecialty(s) of practice
  • Active Medical Licensure, or in process of obtaining licensure, is required in the state in which physician will practice
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers • DEA Registration schedules II-V

Physical Requirements
  • Interact with others requiring employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information.
  • Operate computers, telephones, office equipment, and manipulate paper requiring the ability to move fingers and hands.
  • See and read computer monitors and documents.
  • Remain sitting or standing for long periods of time to perform work on a computer, telephone, or other equipment.
