Job Description:
The Senior Medical Director-Patient-Centered Care (physician or app) is a leader in Clinical Excellence supporting clinical and operational leaders at the system, region, market, and care site level. Enterprise scope may include Intermountain Health clinical functions including clinical programs, service lines, shared services, medical group, acute and ambulatory care sites, following a system led, locally deployed support model. The Senior Medical Director supports strategy and execution aligned with the Clinical Excellence leadership team to drive overarching strategies that support the delivery of highly reliable care that is safe, timely, effective, efficient, patient-centered, and equitable.

The Senior Medical Director for Patient-Centered Care will report directly to the Chief Quality and Safety Officer. The Senior Medical Director will be responsible for supporting caregivers in advancing patient-centered care across Intermountain Health.
Supporting Patient Experience and Clinical Relations teams
Supporting the compliant resolution of patient complaints and grievances
Advancing the Patient Experience program, including toolkit adoption, the provider reviews and ratings program, and the provider coaching program
Partnering across Clinical Excellence teams to support proactive patient-centered care innovations, including through our Qualtrics partnership.

Minimum Requirements
  • M.D. or D.O degree. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution and will be verified.

  • Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Practice Nurse (NP, APRN, CNM, CRNA) degree. Education must be obtained through an accredited institution and will be verified.
  • Active Medical Licensure, or in process of obtaining licensure.
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in multiple care settings.
  • Excellent consulting skills demonstrated success in leading by influence.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and to varying levels in the organization is critical to success.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate interdisciplinary teams and to develop effective relationships with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Training in improvement science
  • Master's degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, Public Health or a related field
  • Experience working in a complex health system.
  • Certified in healthcare communication, coaching or an equivalent
  • Experience with external entities that drive and support Experience of Care approaches and standards, including government agencies, and other organizations.
