Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) New Brunswick is seeking a full-time Hospitalist to join our Oncology Division with Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ), the State’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, The State University of New Jersey.

In this position, the hospitalist will primarily manage oncology patients on our solid oncology and liquid oncology services in close collaboration with our CINJ oncologists. Working on a well-established, multidisciplinary team, the hospitalist’s main goal is to partner with the outpatient oncology practices for patients who require acute inpatient levels of care. The hospitalist will coordinate the inpatient care, assist with transitions of care back to the ambulatory setting, and work closely with the medical and surgical oncologic support staff, inclusive of advanced practice providers.

Ideal candidates will join a busy and growing practice as we expand oncologic care services at the State’s only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. A core function of the hospitalist will be to support a team-based approach, inclusive of communication with case managers, social workers, bed managers, and others to ensure appropriate patient-centered transitions of care. Moreover, the candidate will work closely with the palliative care teams to assist in patient and family communications and care planning.

In addition to providing clinical care, our academic institution in collaboration with Robert Wood Johnson Medical School creates unique opportunities for physicians to engage in clinical and research programs, clinical trials, cancer chemoprevention, basic and clinical pharmacology, novel cell therapy constructs, and participation in a broad range of teaching initiatives.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of New Jersey
  • Board Eligible/Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine or American Board of Family Medicine
  • Ambitious and seeking opportunities for growth
  • Willing to work 7-on / 7-off model of employment to ensure appropriate patient care transitions
