At Long Island Jewish Medical Center, we're raising the standard of cancer care - and it shows. We’ve been ranked for high performance in lung cancer surgery for 2023-24 by U.S. News & World Report. In fact, more people in Queens and Nassau counties choose us for lung cancer surgery, according to 2023 data from Statewide Planning and Research Cooperative System (SPARCS) for Queens and Long Island. In addition, our thoracic surgery program on lung cancer procedures has earned the highest rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS), which is achieved by fewer than 10% of thoracic surgery programs in North America.

One of the most progressive centers for esophageal cancer treatment in the region, we’re dual-recognized as leaders in cancer care and minimally invasive robotic surgery, with the highest volume of minimally invasive procedures performed on Long Island.
