Physician, Head of the Neurosurgery Service
with an Associate or Full Professor title
at the Department of clinical neurosciences (DNC)

Starting date: February 2025

Place: Lausanne, Switzerland

The Neurosurgery Service at the CHUV provides all neurosurgical services for adults and children, with the exception of spinal surgery, which is performed by the Spinal Surgery Service, with which it collaborates closely within the Department of Clinical Neurosciences (DNC). The department has several highly specialized medical mandates, including functional neurosurgery and the treatment of complex vascular anomalies. In the field of functional neurosurgery, the CHUV’s Neurosurgery Service stands out for its expertise in radiosurgery, deep brain stimulation and stereotaxic lesioning, as well as for its world-renowned research in the field of spinal cord stimulation applied to the treatment of paraplegia (NeuroRestore research center co-developed with the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne - EPFL). It also benefits from a close partnership with the CHUV’s Brain Tumor Center and is strongly committed to the development of ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) programs. The Neurosurgery Service's academic activities are highly dynamic, supported in all areas by numerous collaborations within the DNC and CHUV, as well as with EPFL.

Main missions:

  1. Direct, organize, and ensure the development of all activities typical of a clinical service in a university hospital.
  2. Ensure and reinforce the expertise and security of clinical missions/services, while developing inter-institutional collaborations and synergies in line with the CHUV's strategic plan.
  3. Conduct and develop high level, externally funded, peer-reviewed clinical and academic research, including own research.
  4. Ensure and guarantee the missions of pre-graduate (according to FBM needs), post-graduate (ISFM training center cat. A1) and continuing education, in the field of neurosurgery, as well as participating in them.
  5. Consolidate the influence of the clinical and academic field, both internally and externally.

UNIL and CHUV are committed to promoting gender equality and diversity and strongly encourage applications from female candidates www.unil.ch/egalite.

Desired profile:
