Memorial Healthcare System, located in South Florida, is seeking a Medical Director of Neuroscience Scholarly Activities/Clinical Research to be responsible for the administrative and clinical oversight of research within the neuroscience field. This includes fiscal and operations management, developing design strategies for research, aligning data collection, managing existing research, ensuring legal compliance, and identifying new opportunities for research trials.

The incumbent will oversee and advocate for appropriate support and coordination of multiple clinical trials.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepares, monitors, and evaluates budgets, and ensures that research studies operate in compliance with allocated funding
  • Serves as a resource to clinical operations personnel, participate in reporting clinical trial data in appropriate registries, preparation of final reports and publications
  • Acts as a consultant and protocol expert for clinical studies team(s)
  • Supports the planning of symposia, advisory board meetings, and other meetings with healthcare professionals; and oversees research grants submissions.

In addition, the incumbent develops and maintains relationships with internal/external sources including other departments, research institutions, regulatory agencies, sponsors, funding sources in the scientific/research community; Coordinates and directs internal/external sponsor and federal research audits; Assists with investigator-initiated research objectives, proposals, and protocol development with IRB submission.

Other duties include ensuring alignment of strategic initiatives with Memorial Neuroscience Institute and the Department of Research; and overseeing the IRB application process, budget negotiations, expenditures related to research grants, and stay current plus serves as a resource in matters related to federal, state, and local regulations regarding conduct of research.

This is a full-time employed position with the multispecialty Memorial Physician Group. The position offers competitive benefits and a compensation package that is commensurate with training and experience. Professional malpractice and medical liability are covered under sovereign immunity.
