The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is one of the leading research-intensive academic health centers in the nation, serving the population of Southeast Texas and the Houston Suburbs. UTMB Health is a $2.6 billion health science center comprised of four hospital campuses, an extensive network of outpatient clinics, and Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Health Professions, Public and Population Health, as well as a Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, three institutes and over 10 exceptional research centers. UTMB was the first academic health center in Texas and home to the state’s first schools of medicine, nursing, and allied health sciences. The Galveston National Laboratory, one of only two laboratories conducting research on a university campus at the BSL-4 level in the U.S is located on UTMB’s Galveston campus. The Health Education Center, a 161,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility, is dedicated to innovative interprofessional health and science education through cutting-edge simulation.

Department of Internal Medicine/Division of General Medicine seeks highly motivated candidates who are willing to establish or continue their careers as a faculty member in the Division of General Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine at UTMB’s School of Medicine in Galveston, Texas. Interested candidates will provide care to patients of the General Medicine practice in the ambulatory and inpatient settings; participate in the education and mentorship of medical students, interns, and residents; participate in departmental meetings and committee meetings; and other scholarly activities.

All residents and in-practice physicians are encouraged to apply! We cannot support J1 Visa candidates at this time. 

Requirements: Successful candidates must have completed an approved ACGME residency program, be board certified (or BE) in ABIM as well as any Fellowships they may have completed. They must also be able to obtain a valid, unrestricted Texas state medical license.

Compensation: Income Package: UTMB offers highly competitive salaries combined with the low cost of living in the region. Salary will be commensurate with Academic rank, qualifications, experience, and educational background.
