Loma Linda University Faculty Medical Group, Division of Pediatric Surgery, is seeking an additional BE/BC Pediatric Surgeon, preferably with credentials in Critical Care. This individual would be joining a diverse group of four other surgeons in a busy academic practice based at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital. LLUCH is a 380-bed full service facility that provides both pediatric and maternity services and supports an 84-bed Level-4 NICU, a 25-bed PICU, and newly constructed, state-of-the-art acute care tower and new emergency department. There are approximately 4.6 million people with 1.3 million children in our referral base, which covers one fourth of the state of California.

The educational mission of the division includes training an ACGME accredited Pediatric Surgery Fellow, as well as supporting a Pediatric Surgical Research fellow. The division is also responsible for providing the primary pediatric surgical experience for General Surgery residents from multiple programs in the area, as well as serving as a core teaching site for medical students. The division is in the process of applying for a pediatric focused surgical critical care fellowship.

The division has a diverse research effort including a basic science lab focused on the pathogenesis and treatment of NEC, health outcomes research utilizing both institutional and national validated databases, as well as multi-institutional collaborative projects.

Of note is that the division has been leading the ACS NSQIP project here at LLUCH for the last several years, and there are plans for ACS Children’s Surgery Verification in the near future.

LLUCH is a Level-1 Pediatric Trauma Center, however the adult trauma surgeons from the adjacent facility are the designated first responders for the highest level trauma activations, allowing home call for the pediatric surgery faculty.

The offered position comes with a competitive salary and an attractive benefits package that includes paid malpractice coverage, health insurance, paid leave for vacation, own-occupation disability insurance, retirement plans including 403b and 401a options, as well as a generous allowance for continuing medical education. Administrative and leadership opportunities exist that can be tailored to the individual goals of the applicant.
