JERSEY SHORE UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER

Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH), New Jersey’s largest and most integrated healthcare network, is seeking a Medical Director of Quality and Outcomes. The successful candidate will have the ability to create a positive working relationship with staff, physicians, and executive leadership members. You will lead all clinical quality efforts as they pertain to the physician and medical staff performance in relation to organization and publicly reported data. You will collaborate with the Directors of Patient Safety & Quality, Infection Prevention, and Guest relations, supporting initiatives that impact clinical practice and physician behavior throughout Jersey Shore University Medical Center. This position reports to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

Position Highlights

  • Provide oversight of medical staff quality by support of the Chairs’ pursuit of clinical excellence, participation in Peer Review and the FPPE/OPPE processes.
  • Improve clinical outcomes and enhance value and optimize patient care through the implementation of comprehensive quality programs
  • Monitor the performance of JSUMC through the reporting of publicly reported data (PRD) such as US News & World Report, Leapfrog, and Health Grades. Utilizing these indicators, develop performance opportunities, future changes, and address discrepancies in performance.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for the physician communication domain initiative for HCAHPS improvement.
  • Recruit, orient, and support physician champions for the various quality and patient safety initiatives of the organization.
  • Support all Medicare Loss Reduction Program efforts and address all financial penalties generated by non-compliant performance.
  • Address areas of non-compliance with The Joint Commission and other agency and regulatory requirements (NJ DOH, AHRQ)

Position Requirements

  • MD or DO from a recognized medical school
  • Minimum of five (5) years post-residency
  • Board Eligible / Board Certification; Board Certification will be required within 5 years
  • Experience in Quality Initiatives with training in quality, epidemiology or public health preferred
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and Project Management a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with professional peers and executive leadership
