Job Details

Cleveland Clinic is seeking a full-time psychiatrist specializing in Addiction Psychiatry. Cleveland Clinic supports an Alcohol and Drug Recovery Center that includes a 16-bed hospital unit, intensive outpatient treatment programs and outpatient clinic, as well as clinical research opportunities in collaboration with other research centers at Cleveland Clinic. The group provides teaching to medical students at three local medical school programs, including Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. In addition, the group participates in the teaching of many physicians in training, including at least three core psychiatry residencies in the area, one of the addiction medicine fellowships, and a lead role in the only addiction psychiatry fellowship in the area.

Candidates should be board-eligible or board-certified in Addiction Psychiatry via an ABMS member board. The position will involve some hospital-based withdrawal management of adults in ADRCs hospital unit, as well as assessment and management of outpatients in various levels of outpatient treatment. Opportunities for teaching of resident physicians and medical students abound and some involvement is expected, as well as CME opportunities such as Grand Rounds presentations and CME course presentations, with or without associated original research.

Those with ABPN certification in general psychiatry cover the ADRC over weekends and holidays with a team of psychiatrists covering ADRC with other adult psychiatry units at Lutheran Hospital. Non-psychiatrists are expected to round on patients in ADRC on weekends and holidays at somewhat higher frequency than the psychiatry pool, but with rounding limited to ADRC patients alone, often working with resident physicians as part of the weekend rounding team.

This dynamic position commands a competitive salary enhanced by an attractive benefits package including but not limited to:
  • Excellent medical, dental, vision coverage
  • Comprehensive disability and life insurance benefits
  • Medical malpractice & tail coverage provided
  • Generous time away coverage for vacation, sick time, holidays and CME meeting time
  • Highly competitive retirement plans with employer contribution
  • Faculty appointment available at the Cleveland Clinic Learner College of Medicine commensurate with experience
