Responsibilities
Job Description:
The Hematology-Oncology Hospitalist must be able to competently care for patients hospitalized at Smilow Cancer Hospital. This includes emergency evaluation and triage in addition to admission to the hospital and formation of a differential diagnosis. It is essential to formulate a comprehensive care plan in accordance with the most up to date, evidence based protocols. The staff hospitalist must possess excellent communication skills and exhibit these through communication with primary oncologists, hematologists and in-house consulting physicians and colleagues.
The Hematology-Oncology Hospitalist must interact in a professional manner with all members of the patient care team. The hospitalist physician should participate in education of the house staff physicians, students, nurses and all members of the patient care team. The hospitalist should keep high quality care and patient safety in mind while transitioning the patient back to the outpatient setting upon discharge. The hospitalist shall deliver the above with service excellence and patient satisfaction in mind. Participation on Yale New Haven Hospital committees is encouraged in an effort to demonstrate leadership.
Qualifications
Qualifications/Education:
Medical Degree (MD, DO) and Internal Medicine Residency completion.
Hematology-Oncology fellowship training is preferred but not required.
