Center for Research and Training, Department of Wellness and Preventive Medicine

The Cleveland Clinic is seeking a post-doctoral research fellow level to join its Center for Research and Training (CRT) in the Department of Wellness and Preventive Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. The CRT is the home of a growing team of integrative and functional medicine researchers with expertise in mindfulness-based interventions, mental health, health equity, integrative oncology, and non-pharmacological interventions for pain and chronic disease management. The department also includes over 40 clinicians including physicians, nurse practitioners, chiropractors, acupuncturists, Chinese herbalists, holistic psychotherapists, massage therapists, yoga instructors, and culinary medicine specialists.

The CRT has strong research mentorship, research grant administration, and project support staff as well as relationships with the Cleveland Clinic Center for Value Based Care Research, the Lerner Research Institute, and investigators across the Clinics specialty institutes. The successful fellow will receive comprehensive training and a unique research experience in integrative and functional medicine research from our multidisciplinary faculty. The fellow is encouraged to develop his/her own research ideas and career development grant application during the fellowship with support from the Cleveland Clinic and CRT faculty. Responsibilities include:
  • Conduct literature review and meta-analysis
  • Assist with grant writing and research project support
  • Design and develop an original research project
  • Perform data analyses
  • Draft reports, abstracts and manuscripts

By the start of the fellowship, the candidate should have a doctoral degree in health psychology, nutrition, medicine (allopathic, naturopathic, osteopathic), or a related field. Experience in quantitative data analysis and biostatistics is desirable. Other qualifications include a track record of peer-reviewed publications in integrative or behavioral medicine. We are especially interested in candidates with a research background and interests in mechanisms and biomarkers of mind-body approaches and/or lifestyle medicine outcomes (mental health, stress, sleep). Individuals with expertise in natural product/nutritional interventions (botanicals, phytochemicals, micronutrients, probiotics) are also invited to apply.
