The world class cardiothoracic surgery program at Cleveland Clinic's Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute is seeking a Lung/Heart Transplant Fellow to join the number #1 cardiac surgery program in the country. Cleveland Clinic Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute performs over 5000 cardiac operations annually, while both our heart and lung transplant services are among the busiest in the nation with more than 150 thoracic transplant yearly. This allows a unique opportunity to advance technical skills and gain operative experience in cardiothoracic transplantation.

Clinical responsibilities for the Lung/Heart Transplant Fellowship (1 Year) include:

This fellowship is for individuals interested in acquiring experience in thoracic transplantation. Additional experience focuses on mechanical circulatory assist devices, operations for end-stage heart disease, and clinical and basic research. The goal of this program is to provide complete training in surgical approaches to heart and lung transplantation failure from medical, surgical, procedural, and research perspectives.

Cleveland Clinic offers advanced fellowships which provide specialized training in focused areas of cardiothoracic surgery beyond that provided in cardiothoracic residency training.

Requirements:
  • Graduate of Thoracic Surgery Integrated Residency or Thoracic Surgery 2 or 3 year fellowship
  • OR Graduate of a Canadian Accredited I-6 Cardiothoracic Residency.
  • Applicants must qualify for full Ohio medical license.
  • Foreign medical graduates may qualify if they have 1) 3 Steps of USMLEs, 2) two years total training in a U.S. Non-accredited cardiothoracic fellowship and 3) H1-B visa or green card.
  • Candidates must possess strong surgical skills, exceptional collaboration, and communication skills
