Yale New Haven Health, the largest and most comprehensive healthcare system in Connecticut, is inviting BC MDs with training in Hyperbaric and Wound Care to join the service at Bridgeport Hospital.

The Position: The Wound Care Physician oversees inpatient, outpatient wound services and the hyperbaric oxygen treatment. Surgeon would manage patients and perform procedures within scope of privileges in the outpatient and OR as indicated. S/He would perform teaching and quality control for the wound services and function as member of team to review wound services performance, policies, and initiatives.

The duties for the position will include: 1) management of hyperbaric oxygen therapy; 2) inpatient consultation for wound care; 3) outpatient management of wound care; 4) supervision of APRNs; 5) participation in regional and national organizations for wound care; 6) active leadership in system wound care product investigation and protocols

For surgeon candidates, privileging would include operative wound debridement, amputation, and skin & subcutaneous surgery.

Will take part in YNHHS Wound Care Medicine Network, Bridgeport Hospital's annual Wound Science Symposium, and other opportunities for research

Work within the largest and most comprehensive healthcare system in Connecticut recognized for advanced clinical care, quality, service, cost effectiveness and commitment to improving the health status of the communities it serves.

Qualifications: Board certification or eligible in the physician's specialty MD, or DO

General Surgeon OR Internal Medicine/Family Medicine with strong experience in wound care

HBO (Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment) Certified; Broad and in-depth technical knowledge and skills related to the practice of medicine, and wound care.

Will train in preparation for certification.

Relevant training and experience in a wound care and hyperbaric medicine is desirable.

Formal and informal teaching and supervisory skills.
