Clinician Educator - Outpatient Internal Medicine Teaching Physician in Danbury, CT

Nuvance Health is seeking a Clinician Educator for an Outpatient Internal Medicine Teaching Physician in Danbury, CT (70 miles from NYC). The ideal candidate is a highly competent, a board-certified or board-eligible internist, preferably with ambulatory care and teaching experience to precept internal medicine residents and medical students in a primary care clinic. The qualified applicant would have a love of teaching and dedication to provide excellent patient care in a Federally Qualified Health Center. This is a great opportunity for someone interested in teaching to work with bright, enthusiastic, and engaged Residents in a clinic dedicated to the care of underserved patients. We are seeking a candidate who can start immediately. H-1B and J-1 visa sponsorship may be available.

Our residency program is primarily affiliated with University of Vermont as well as Ross University and American University of the Caribbean. The position includes the opportunity to become an Assistant Clinical Professor at University of Vermont Larner College of Medicine.

Job Summary:

  • On average, nine1/2 day precepting sessions per week teaching top-notch internal medicine residents and medical students.
  • Dedicated didactic teaching and administrative time – on average one 1/2 day session/week
  • Interest and experience in quality improvement, advocacy, and outcomes research preferred

Job Requirements:

  • MD or DO with CT State and Federal Narcotic Use Registration
  • Preferred: Prior experience as an academic physician teaching Residents but recently graduated Residents with a strong interest in teaching are encouraged to apply
  • Have successfully completed an Internal Medicine Residency
  • Is Board Certified or Board Eligible
  • Spanish skills strongly desired
  • Willingness to work full time, Monday – Friday. No evenings or weekends. Willingness to take minimal back-up telephone call

Danbury, Connecticut, located on the border of New York State, is about 70 miles northeast of New York City and 60 miles west of Hartford, CT. As part of the greater NY metropolitan area, the city of Danbury enjoys both proximity to New York City culture and access to a wide array of outdoor activities, including hiking, biking, fishing, and boating in state and regional parks and preserves. Boston, New York City, New Haven, and Hartford are easily accessible via train or car.
