The world class cardiothoracic surgery program at Cleveland Clinic's Sydell and Arnold Miller Family Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute is seeking a Robotic Mitral Valve Repair Fellow to join the number #1 cardiac surgery program in the country.

Cleveland Clinic Heart, Vascular & Thoracic Institute performs over 5000 cardiac operations annually, while both our heart and lung transplant services are among the busiest in the nation with more than 150 thoracic transplant yearly. This allows a unique opportunity to advance technical skills and gain operative experience in cardiothoracic transplantation.

Clinical responsibilities for the Robotic Mitral Valve Repair Fellowship (1 Year) include:

Associates accepted into this program will undergo one year of intense clinical training with Drs. Marc Gillinov, Daniel Burns, Eric Roselli, Ed Soltesz and other surgeons that perform minimally invasive surgery. It is the goal of this program to develop cardiac surgeons who are completely trained in minimally invasive and robotically assisted surgery, and who are capable of starting independent practices.

The applicant must be highly motivated and have familiarity with all aspects of valvular and coronary artery surgery. The ideal applicant will be board certified or board eligible in Thoracic Surgery. This position does require full licensure in the State of Ohio. Cleveland Clinic offers advanced fellowships which provide specialized training in focused areas of cardiothoracic surgery beyond that provided in cardiothoracic residency training.

Requirements :
  • Graduate of Thoracic Surgery Integrated Residency or Thoracic Surgery 2 or 3 year fellowship
  • OR Graduate of a Canadian Accredited I-6 Cardiothoracic Residency.
  • Applicants must qualify for full Ohio medical license.
  • Foreign medical graduates may qualify if they have 1) 3 Steps of USMLEs, 2) two years total training in a U.S. Non-accredited cardiothoracic fellowship and 3) H1-B visa or green card.
  • Candidates must possess strong surgical skills, exceptional collaboration, and communication skills.
