The Molecular Pathology and Cytogenomics Section within the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Institute (PLMI) at the Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland, OH) is seeking an appropriately boarded MD or PhD to join our Professional Staff.

The Section supports the testing needs of the Cleveland Clinic Health System and Cleveland Clinic Laboratories, our regional and national outreach program. The Section houses Cytogenomics and Molecular Diagnostics services and offers clinical laboratory testing based on cytogenetics, FISH, chromosomal microarrays, next generation sequencing, mass spectrometry, and more. Responsibilities are based on a Patients First attitude with an emphasis on professional interpretive services and close interaction with clinical colleagues. The Section hosts a Molecular Genetic Pathology Fellowship Program. An essential element of the job is mentoring and teaching residents and fellows.

The Molecular Pathology team is dedicated to efficient operation of the laboratory that includes, but is not limited to, test menu expansion via new test development and validation, mentoring of medical technologists, laboratory resources management and stewardship, quality assurance, continuous quality improvement, regulatory compliance, efficient communication with clinical and administrative colleagues, teaching of residents and fellows, results interpretation and test sign-out, and more. The Section runs test for both oncology (solid tumor and hematological-based) and constitutional genetics.

Applicants ideally have diagnostic expertise and scholarly accomplishments and/or potential in an area of Molecular Genetic Pathology and/or Genomics. Although the majority of the candidates efforts will be in clinical operations, participation in activities that support Cleveland Clinics educational and research mission is encouraged and expected.

Applicants should hold an MD, MD/PhD, or PhD degree. Certification by ABP/ABMGG in Molecular Genetic Pathology and/or by ABMGG in Laboratory Genetics and Genomics is essential. A faculty appointment at a rank commensurate with experience is available at Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western Reserve University.
