FULL PROFESSOR AND HEAD PHYSICIAN OF THE
CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY SERVICE (PCL)

Starting date: August 2023

Place: Lausanne, Switzerland

The Clinical Pharmacology Service of the CHUV specializes in the identification, prevention, and management of medical problems involving drugs or therapeutic substances. It brings together physicians, pharmacists, other scientists, and laboratory technicians and offers prevention, analysis, and consulting services to health professionals. It plays an important role in quality and safety aspects in the institution. PCL offers specialized advice by providing a clinical-pharmacological evaluation centered on the patient as a whole. It also has a mission of pharmacovigilance (Swissmedic) and teratovigilance (STIS). The Clinical Pharmacology Laboratory performs drug assays (~140) in biological media. Through its CT and pharmacogenetics data integration, PCL provides a personalized and precision medicine approach for the institution's patients.

Main missions:

  • Lead, organize, and ensure the development of all activities typical of a Clinical Service in a teaching hospital.
  • Ensure and reinforce the expertise and security of clinical missions/services while developing inter-institutional collaborations and synergies in line with the CHUV strategic plan
  • To conduct and develop high level clinical and academic research missions, financed by external funds and published in quality scientific journals, including its own research
  • To ensure and guarantee the missions of pre-graduate training (according to FBM needs), post-graduate training (ISFM training center cat. A1) and continuing education, in the field of the discipline, by assuming the function of discipline manager and by participating in it
  • Consolidate the influence of the clinical and academic field both internally and externally.

Desired profile:

  • Federal medical degree (or Mebeko recognition required), MD or MD-PhD
  • ISFM specialist qualifications (or Mebeko recognition required) in general internal medicine and clinical pharmacology and toxicology
  • Extensive clinical experience in the field of clinical pharmacology and toxicology at tertiary level
  • Widely recognized (or certified) managerial skills in leading a large/multi-site team and relevant project management experience
  • Academic knowledge of faculty rank with proven practice in pre- and post-graduate teaching
  • Ability to develop clinical research programs that can be supported by external expert funding
  • Good knowledge of French (LM or C1 ideal, minimum B2 with ability to acquire it quickly).
