The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences in the Duke University School of Medicine is seeking a psychologist or psychiatrist at the Associate Professor or Professor level to serve as Associate Director, Duke Center of Autism and Brain Development. The successful candidate will have a strong academic background with demonstrated leadership and history of accomplishment in autism research, clinical care, education, research, and administration. The Duke Center for Autism and Brain Development is an NIH Autism Center of Excellence dedicated to ensuring that autistic individuals reach their full potential, allowing society to benefit from the talents that neurodiverse individuals offer. Center faculty, students, and staff include both clinicians and scientists who work in partnership with autistic people and their families, and the broader community, to realize this goal. Approximately 95 faculty, students, and staff are employed part- or full-time at the center. Training opportunities are offered to postdoctoral associates, fellows, interns, graduate students, medical students, and undergraduates. With the support of Duke University, research grants, and philanthropy, the center offers state-of-the-art interdisciplinary clinical care, conducts cutting-edge research to improve lives, inspires and trains the next generation of scientists and clinicians, and partners with the community to impact policy and services. The Center fosters synergies between its clinical and research programs to promote translation of scientific discoveries into improved methods for screening, diagnosis, and treatment. Signature research areas include brain function and imaging, biomarkers, early detection and screening, digital health and computational neuroscience, early intervention, psychosocial interventions, global health and implementation science, and clinical trials. The Associate Director will have a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in leading efforts to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion and will exemplify the Duke Health values of excellence, integrity, teamwork, respect, and innovation. The Associate Director will be part of the Duke Center for Autisms leadership team, have substantial input into the strategic direction of the research, clinical, and education mission of the Center, help recruit and mentor early-stage investigators who are part of the Center, and participate in securing resources for the Center through research grants and philanthropy. The Associate Director will be expected to maintain their own active program of autism research. Candidates must hold a Doctoral degree in Psychology from an APA/CPA-accredited university or a MD and be eligible for licensure as a psychologist or psychiatrist in North Carolina. Salary, rank and tenure status are contingent upon candidate qualifications. The rank and tenure status awarded in alignment with the Duke School of Medicines promotion and tenure policy.
