The Department of Anesthesiology at Duke University Medical Center is seeking candidates for the position of Chief of the Division of Neuroanesthesiology. Candidates should be recognized academic clinician-scientists with leadership ability and administrative experience. Ideal candidates will have a history of successful investigative productivity and both strategic and operational leadership experience in an academic service. Duke University Medical Center is a Level I trauma center, JCAHO Certified Stroke Center, and world-renowned Brain Tumor Center.

The new Chief will manage ongoing Faculty development, growth of research endeavors, fellow & faculty recruitment, quality assurance programs, and optimization of resident education in Neuroanesthesiology.

Position Highlights:

• Develop goals and objectives for the Division of Neurosurgical, Spine, ENT, and Non-Operating Room Anesthesiology in line with the Department's Strategic initiatives
• Lead recruitment of academic anesthesiologists for the Division
• Work with faculty to advance the missions of the Department and grow internal and external collaborations
• Mentor and develop faculty in education, research, and clinical care, growing academic productivity and encouraging progress toward promotion
• Supervise and ensure the success of fellowship program; oversee resident and medical student education within the Division.
• Partner with health system staff to ensure optimization of the clinical practice including quality, standardization, peer review, productivity, performance improvement and clinical scheduling
• Perform clinical duties as a member of the Division and share in call responsibilities.
• Foster engagement and teamwork within and outside the Division

Background Requirements

• Prior leadership, mentoring, and team-building experience
• Strong clinical background with proven excellence in teaching and clinical excellence in Neurosurgical Anesthesiology.
• Track record of funded research a plus, including clinical trials as well as high-impact peer-reviewed publications
