The Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM) and the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) are inviting applications for a position of:

Full Professor and
Head of the geriatrics and geriatric rehabilitation service

Starting date: August 2023 or to be agreed                               Place: Lausanne, Switzerland

Affiliated to the Department of medicine, the geriatrics and geriatric rehabilitation Service has a clinical, teaching, research, and strategic mission. Its clinical activities include acute care, post-acute geriatric rehabilitation, long stay, ambulatory and community care.

Main missions:

  • Leading all clinical (medical, nursing, and medico-therapeutic) and administrative teams working in the Service 
  • Manage the Service and its academic development
  • Leading the teaching and research missions of the geriatrics and geriatric rehabilitation Service
  • Ensure the supervision and pre- and post-graduate training of physicians
  • Develop an autonomous research line in the field of gerontology and/or geriatrics
  • Ensure the development of the Service's strategic projects and contribute to the deployment of institutional projects in this field 
  • Contribute to the definition of the clinical and academic development strategy of the geriatric Service and assume responsibility for its implementation.

Desired profile:

  • MD or MD-PhD or recognized title (Mebeko)
  • FMH diploma in general internal medicine with advanced training in geriatrics or equivalent (Mebeko)
  • At least 10 years’ experience as a senior physician in an academic setting
  • At least 10 years’ experience in university teaching at the pre- and post-graduate levels
  • Demonstrated ability to independently conduct research projects in the field of gerontology, geriatric medicine, and/or health services research
  • Experience in supervising academic work (thesis, master's degree, etc.)
  • Solid experience in the management of a service
  • Determined and motivated personality, with good interpersonal skills and a spirit of initiative
  • Good knowledge of French (LM or minimum B2, C1 ideal) or ability to acquire it quickly
