The Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine is recruiting for a full-time academic faculty member in the Division of Pediatric Gastroenterology to join a dynamic faculty of 7 Pediatric Gastroenterologists, three dietitians and 4 RNs. We are recruiting at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank (commensurate with credentials) in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor or Clinical Pediatrics series. The candidate will be expected to participate in clinical care, education, community engagement, research activities of the Department of Pediatrics, and serve on departmental committees. The candidate may be expected to do clinical service at participating regional hospitals.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide care for patients with a variety of gastrointestinal disorders
  • Act as a consultant to other services as needed
  • Attend inpatient, outpatient and hospital-based clinics at both the UCDMC campus and the Shriner's Hospital for Children
  • Teach pediatric residents during their gastroenterology rotation.
  • Teach medical students during their general pediatric and/or gastroenterology rotations
  • Research and publication training including grant funding (if applicable)
  • Provide both formal didactic sessions and clinical supervision for students and housestaff.
  • Serve as junior medical student preceptor on a rotational basis of every 1 - 2 years.
  • Participate in section and departmental meetings, conferences, hospital and departmental committees.

This position may, at times, require the incumbent to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present. Specific hazards of the position may include but are not limited to exposure to patients with infections.

The candidate must have the following experience/qualifications:

  • MD or DO
  • Successful completion of an approved pediatric residency training program
  • Successful completion of a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the time of hire
  • Board certification/eligibility in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology
  • Eligibility for a California Medical License
  • The experience or ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment.
