The Department of Psychiatry in VA Boston Healthcare System (VABHS) is seeking to hire two full-time Addiction Psychiatrists. An Addiction Psychiatrist on the Jamaica Plain campus will serve as the Medical Director for a 6-week, 20-bed residential substance use treatment program and a year-long, 18-bed Transitional Residence Program. The Addiction Psychiatrist on the Brockton campus will serve as the primary psychiatrist in our outpatient Alcohol and Drug Treatment Program. In both positions, the psychiatrist will join well-established, interdisciplinary teams of clinicians delivering evidence-based evaluation and treatment for substance use and psychiatric disorders. The positions will include direct service, supervision of trainees (medical students, psychiatry residents and fellows with a possible leadership role in addiction training in Brockton), and pursuit of academic interests (where appropriate).

An academic faculty appointment will be facilitated at Harvard Medical School or Boston University School of Medicine for qualified candidates. The VA Boston Healthcare System is a major referral source for the New England region, serves as a vibrant training site for multiple disciplines, and has a large research footprint contributing to innovations in VA healthcare.

These positions offer a highly competitive VA salary, a generous leave and benefits package, and a faculty appointment commensurate with your experience. Recruitment/Relocation Incentive and Educational Debt Reduction are available.

Qualifications: BE/BC Certified in General Psychiatry, preferably also in Addiction Psychiatry or Addiction Medicine (or be willing to pursue BC through ASAM); a commitment to serving Veterans; strong clinical and interpersonal skills, and a desire to work as part of an exceptional interprofessional team. The successful candidate must be a United States Citizen.

VABHS is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, pregnancy and pregnancy-related conditions, or any other characteristic protected by law. Women and minority candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.

VHA health care personnel (HCP) are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 subject to such accommodations as required by law (i.e., medical, religious or pregnancy). Additional information is available to applicants during the recruitment process.
