Responsibilities

MAJOR DUTIES:

The primary purpose of position is to provide a Physician who is board certified or board eligible in Diagnostic Radiology to supervise, conduct and interpret a wide variety of imaging studies and provide consultative services to other clinicians.

1. Responsible for supervising, conducting and interpreting a wide range of diagnostic imaging studies, which includes but is not limited to fluoroscopic and diagnostic plain film radiography, linear tomography, upper gastrointestinal series, barium swallows, barium enemas, ultra- sonography and mammography in accordance with established principles, practices and ethics of both the medical profession and the American College of Radiology. Administers contrast agents as required for the above examinations. Obtains history for general radiographic diagnoses, carrying out appropriate physical examination, obtaining indicated laboratory test results, and assessing severity of illness. Provides full formal counseling with patients, thoroughly documenting all aspects of the encounter in the Medical Treatment Record. Provides follow-up as indicated. Utilizes specialty-unique imaging technology in the diagnostic evaluation of patients with complex problems (multi-organ system dysfunction or failure) using special procedures. Responsible for the timely interpretation and dictation of interpretations, and for the prompt notification of abnormal results to referring health care providers as appropriate. Exercises independent judgment in the medical evaluation and management of patients of all ages, from the neonatal period through geriatrics.

2. Serves as consultant to clinicians regarding the diagnostic imaging required for patient care. Instructs and supervises radiology technologists in diagnostic radiology procedures. Instructs clinicians in radiographic interpretation and practices as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

US Citizenship required

Board Certified/Eligible

Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).

Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
