Responsibilities:

Jacobi Medical Center is seeking 2 pulmonary critical care boarded candidates with experience in the management of ECMO patients and interest in the development and growth of our ECMO program. in the spring of 2021 Jacobi started its PCI/STEMI Center and by late 2021, Jacobi founded an ECMO program with both V-A and V-V cannulations. There is a strong interest in growing and strengthening this program with a goal of 10-15 cases/year to be led by the ECMO intensivists. ECMO specific responsibilities include:
  • Building ECMO H + H presence, infrastructure, capacity
  • Selecting appropriate ECMO candidates
  • Critical care management of ECMO patients in the context of the multidisciplinary team
  • Taking part in the ECMO call schedule
  • Program development, including education of nursing, respiratory therapy and physician staff
  • Participating in ongoing ECMO centered QI/PI initiatives

While there is a specific focus on ECMO interest and experience, candidates will be incorporated into the pulmonary critical care division's scope of services/rotations at our closed ICUs in 2 sites covering the MICU, pulmonary inpatient service, pulmonary and critical care consultations, outpatient pulmonary medicine and advanced pulmonary procedures in the newly opened endoscopy suite wit EBUS/radial EBUS capacity.

There are rich academic activities: academic appointment to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, training of pulmonary critical care and cardiology fellows (Montefiore/Einstein program), Jacobi nephrology and oncology fellowships, Jacobi and North Central Bronx IM residency programs, Einstein MS 2, 3, and CUNY medical students, joint rounds and conferences with Montefiore/Einstein, and ongoing research and development at the medical school.

There is a rotating call schedule of 160 hours/4 weeks

Qualifications:

NY State Medical License

Board Eligible/Certified in pulmonary critical care medicine

Experience in the management of ECMO patients

Proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required prior to hire

Salary: $240,465 Board Eligible; $245,693 Board Certified
