Indiana University Health Southern Indiana Physicians has an employment opportunity for a Cardiothoracic Surgeon to join their team at the beautiful, new state-of-the-art hospital in Bloomington, Indiana! This is a 3 Star Program through STS, the only 3 star program in Indiana. Quality and Collaboration are very desirable skills to compliment the existing providers! Employment Opportunity Details:
  • 70% Inpatient
  • 30% outpatient
  • Call: 1:2 (1:3 is future state)
  • Opportunity to teach 1-4 th year medical students if interested. In 2024 internal medicine and emergency medicine residency programs starting at the hospital
  • Open heart surgery, thoracic surgery
  • Lung nodule clinic -- interdisciplinary work (run through oncology too), dynamic program
  • Perform about 100 hearts per year
  • TAVR program
  • Sign on Bonus, Salary (not guarantee model), stipend available for those finishing training

Qualifications:
  • Must have M.D., D.O., or equivalent education
  • Completed a Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship
  • American BC/BE in Surgery
  • Requires at least 3 years of experience as a CT Surgeon

Healthcare System/Hospital Description

IU Health Bloomington Hospital and Regional Academic Health Center is a not-for-profit organization and has a patient base of 413,000 in 10 counties (Brown, Daviess, Greene, Jackson, Lawrence, Martin, Monroe, Morgan, Orange, and Owen).

The new facility opened in December 2021 and uses an acuity-adaptable model of care to minimize unnecessary patient transportation between units. In addition, the hospital offers a personalized approach to inpatient services (including intensive care, complex surgeries and comprehensive obstetrics and gynecology services), outpatient services with leading-edge diagnostic testing, flexible space in the emergency department for post-care observation, a dedicated trauma center and a cancer infusion center.

At the same time, the facility strengthens healthcare education by providing space for collaboration and coordination of care and teaching. Students and trainees will frequently come to the hospital side of the facility for clinical experiences.
