The UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute provides nationally acclaimed cardiovascular care in south central Pennsylvania. Our high-volume, reputable, well supported organization is seeking a new Electrophysiologist due to anticipated retirement of senior Electrophysiologist.

Job position requires training in all aspect of electrophysiology procedure including ablation and devices. Appropriate training, expertise, and interest in Lead Extraction procedure a requirement as newly hired EP physician will be expected to participate and develop Lead Extraction program with current EP physician and CT surgeon.

About the Heart and Vascular Institute:

  • We are a well-established, collegial, and dedicated group of 42 cardiologists including five electrophysiologists, four of them perform complex ablations, and 28 noninvasive specialists in a multi-disciplinary setting. Our institute is physician-centric and has a shared governance model.
  • Our GE IGS 620 EP Lab has the capability to perform EP procedures at an extremely low radiation dose also features a compact integrated Cardio Ice system.
  • Advanced and complex ablation program:
    • Biosense Webster and St. Jude Medical mapping systems
    • Well established Arctic Front Cryoablation program for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation with active participation in several research trials involving pulse field ablation.
    • Well established hybrid ablation program for persistent atrial fibrillation using CONVERGENT ablation
    • Leading left atrial appendage occlusion program/WATCHMAN program — participant in several LAAO trials.
    • High volume of implantable devices with more than 8,000 active devices in device clinic
    • Active lead extraction program with CT surgery participation
  • Referral for complex ablations and lead extraction from UPMC hospitals in York and Lititz, PA.
  • Opportunity for clinical research with several other electrophysiology trials open and currently enrolling.
  • Teaching opportunity: ACGME approved general cardiology fellowship program with six positions per year.
  • We host a comprehensive, fully accredited noninvasive department which includes Echocardiography, Nuclear Cardiology, Vascular Imaging, Cardiac CT, and Cardiac MRI.
  • Our physicians perform more than 1,800 electrophysiology procedures, 7,400 heart catheterizations, and 1,100 coronary interventions each year. Over the last five years, our physicians have completed more than 1,000 percutaneous aortic and mitral valve procedures.
  • Expect to interact closely with our cardiovascular surgery colleagues, who have been recognized at both the state and national levels for providing the highest caliber of surgical care.
