QUALIFICATIONS.

A bachelors (or higher level educational) degree, successful completion of a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist program, Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology or American Medical Technologist, US Citizenship, One year of experience

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist performing duties associated with the Department of Pathology Performance Improvement (PI)/Quality Assurance (QA) program
  • Establish/assess/monitor PI/QA activities within the department
  • Serves as the System Manager for the Laboratory Information System in Clinical Pathology.
  • Assess/monitor specific aspects of proficiency test program performance within the department and throughout the Medical Center and outlying Health Clinics.


Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree from a regionally accredited college/university including courses in biological science, chemistry and mathematics, AND successful completion of a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
  • One year of specialized experience which includes performing duties associated with laboratory services to assess, monitor, and improve the quality of laboratory testing programs
  • Certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), American Medical Technologist (AMT) or other board or registry deemed comparable by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs (OASD(HA)) or their designee as a Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Lab Scientist (MLS) is required.
