This fellowship is designed to create the surgical leader of the 21st century in Global Surgery.

Fellowship designed for board eligible/board certified surgeon who has finished accredited ACGME Residency. The fellowship is designed to create the surgical leader of the 21st century in Global Surgery. At the conclusion of the fellowship, the fellow should be able to lead and organize surgical mission trip, create in remote environment to provide basic surgical care, teach local physicians on life saving procedures, and to lead and implement educational program for patient across the globe. The fellowship will span 2 years with rotations set up in various sub-specialties. In addition to learning basics in various sub-specialties, the fellow will also partake in obtaining Masters in Public Health with concentrations in Global Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Fellowship Objectives:

  • Acute Care Surgery: Reinforce the skills obtained during surgical residency as junior faculty member under the supervision.
  • Hand: Learn the basic skills necessary to introduce the fellows on managing hand related emergencies.
  • Ob: Learn basic skills necessary to assist in obstetric care before deployment. The fellows will continue to hone their skills in providing Ob care while abroad under the supervision of faculty members in Ecuador and Guyana.
  • Orthopedics: Learn the basic skills necessary to manage fractures. Closed management of the fracture will be introduced such as reduction and casting.
  • Urology: Learn the basic skills necessary to manage urological emergencies. Introduction to cystoscopy will also be done during this rotation.

Salary Disclosure

Full-time clinical base compensation at Northwell Health ranges from $125K to $750K, which is impacted by various factors, including but not limited to physician specialty, level of experience, quality of care, academic accomplishments, patient experience and productivity. The base compensation range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
