NYC Health + Hospitals/South Brooklyn Health , located in Southern Brooklyn, accommodates more than 250,000 outpatient visits, more than 89,000 emergency room visits, and with 371 beds, more than 15,000 inpatient admissions annually. The hospital maintains a strong academic affiliation with SUNY Downstate Medical Center and New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in order to maintain its high standards of healthcare delivery. Soon to be the home of a brand-new State of the Art Inpatient Clinical Services Building and Campus.

Responsibilities:

PAGNY is currently seeking per diem Pathologists to work at South Brooklyn Health.

Responsible for direction and operation of the Anatomic Pathology Service, including surgical pathology, autopsy and cytology.

Supervision of Pathologists Assistant, Cytotechnologists.

Active participation in teaching of medical students.

Assist Medical Director in assuming responsibility of all functions of the Laboratory, including proficiency testing, or anything else, as needed.

Critical results reporting to providers and documenting such communication. Gross examination and dictation of surgical specimens in absence of PA.

Microscopic examination, resulting and sign out of tissue and cytology specimens. Performance of intra-operative consultations (including Frozen Sections).

Assess adequacy of renal biopsies.

Performance of autopsies.

QA/QC review and participation in QMS/QA/PI processes.

Medical supervision, communication with clinicians, examination of complicated CSF, blood smears and other stains.

Assist Laboratories in urinalysis smears and joint fluid evaluations.

Medical consultation on Laboratory test results and Reference Laboratory Testing.

Qualifications:

Board Certified in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology

Must hold valid unrestricted license to practice medicine in New York

Strong communication skills, ability to work in a team, and be willing to teach

Must hold, or be eligible for, or plan to become eligible for NY state Certificates of Qualification
