Associate Medical Director - Cheshire Hospital Medicine

Physician Advisor

The Cheshire Medical Center's Department of Hospital Medicine is a collaborative group of 13 physicians and 5 APP's. This Section offers an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and motivated Physician to join its group. Five or more years of experience in inpatient care is required for this role. Hospital Medicine and physician leadership experience are preferred.

Dartmouth Health Keene is seeking a Physician Advisor (PA) with expertise in Utilization Management, Care Management, and Clinical Documentation. The PA supports Utilization Management by performing concurrent, evidence-based second-level medical necessity reviews, educating physicians on medical necessity for inpatient/outpatient services, reviewing Medicare Condition Code 44 downgrades, Medicare Outliers for medical necessity, metrics on length of stay and readmission, and taking action where appropriate. The PA supports Care Management by collaborating with care managers, unit medical directors, and health care teams to address questions regarding utilization management and transitions of care, participating in Interdisciplinary Discharge Rounds (IDDR), assisting the staff with physician communication, collaboration, or education and participates in the review of long-stay patients and readmission reduction. And the Physician Advisor (PA) provides second-level CDI reviews, educates providers on documentation, assists in developing templates to improve documentation/coding, and reviews payer coding denials.

Qualifications of current/eligible-for licensure as M.D, D.O. in the state of New Hampshire with five or more years of experience inpatient care. Hospital Medicine and physician leadership experience are preferred.

The candidate should understand commercial and government contracting and reimbursement processes, know health care quality metrics, and possess critical thinking, problem-solving, and deductive reasoning skills. The candidate should also have excellent organizational, analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills and demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills. ABQAURP HCQM Board Certified or eligible.

Required Licensure/Certifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Be a team-oriented multi-tasker with a great willingness to learn.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine
  • Five or more years of experience inpatient care. Hospital Medicine and physician leadership experience are preferred.

Required Licensure/Certification Skills:
  • Eligible for licensure in the State of New Hampshire.
  • Eligible for Federal DEA Registration.
