The Anesthesiology Institute of the Cleveland Clinic, one of the worlds most distinguished academic medical centers, announces a search for a Director of Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine (RA/APM) at Cleveland Clinics Main Campus in Cleveland, OH. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and engaging leader to join our team and direct a robust practice, actively involved in all facets of our tripartite mission of high quality clinical care, education and research. The successful director will have a clear vision for advancing the subspecialty, collaborating with anesthesiology, surgical, and other colleagues.

Director Role:

The Director will be an accomplished, well-recognized academic anesthesiologist responsible for actualizing our tripartite mission--clinical care, education, and research with direct oversight over 12 faculty, 4 advanced practitioners, 3 nurses, 2 RA/APM fellows, and 5 residents rotating monthly. The service performs 3400 regional blocks annually. The Director will work closely with our ACGME accredited RA/APM Fellowship Director, and participate in enterprise, institute, and community efforts to reduce perioperative opioid use. The director will collaborate in the development and implementation of care pathways, including ERAS protocols, and maintain/expand current academic, educational, and research activities.

Responsibilities include:
  • Leading regional anesthesiology and acute pain medicine clinical operations for our main campus with close collaboration across all Anesthesiology Institute departments as well as collaboration with other clinical and research scientists across main campus and our regional hospitals to consistently provide high quality patient care with efficient and innovative utilization of resources.
  • Facilitating medical education in regional anesthesiology and acute pain medicine.
  • Recruiting new faculty to the service and supporting their career development.
  • Leading innovative scholarship in regional anesthesiology and acute pain medicine


Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate should be a recognized leader within regional anesthesiology as an outstanding clinician, educator, and scholar, who supports research and education within a multi-specialty organization. S/He must be a demonstrated leader with strength in communication and collaboration both within and outside of the department. A faculty appointment rank commensurate with experience is available through Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University.

Qualifications
Qualified candidates must be board certified in anesthesiology and fellowship trained in Regional Anesthesiology and Acute Pain Medicine, have MD, DO, or equivalent degree, and be eligible for licensure to practice medicine in Ohio.
