The Duke Department of Pediatrics is excited to announce that we are recruiting a full-time faculty member to join the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Candidates should be board-eligible or board-certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM).

All PEM faculty have significant bedside contact time with residents and medical students while caring for a diverse patient population. In the course of providing state-of-the-art clinical care, we have received our Departments Division Teaching Award 6 times. We welcome faculty who love caring for kids and sharing that expertise and passion with learners of all levels.

  • Scholarly opportunities exist in virtually all aspects of PEM (e.g., EMS, disaster management, trauma, quality improvement, patient safety, global health, informatics, medical education, advocacy, clinical and health equity research, ultrasound, simulation, etc.).
  • The Pediatric Emergency Department (PED) is a stand-alone unit within the Duke ED. All pediatric medical and surgical subspecialties are immediately available.

    • The Department currently trains 75 residents and 60 subspecialty fellows. The Department of Emergency Medicine trains another 30 residents.
    • The Department of Pediatrics is ranked first nationally on the 2021 list of NIH funding for pediatric clinical science departments.
