Position Information:

Lee Physician Group seeks a Medical Director for its very busy and growing Trauma Department at Gulf Coast Medical Center. Candidate must be a Board Certified Trauma Surgeon interested in developing the trauma program in terms of quality care, volume, scope of services, cost-effectiveness and to organize and manage the overall physician component of the trauma service.

The Level Two Trauma Center currently has 6 trauma surgeons and 7 APs. Trauma Medical Director can expect to work five 24-hour Primary Trauma Shifts a month and five 24-hour Back-Up Shifts a month in addition to providing physician input and leadership relative to ongoing operations. Director will work with Trauma District Board of Directors and Lee Health/LPG Administration.

Medical Director Duties will include:

Develop, coordinate and provide input in the development of the trauma program

Oversee performance improvement

Investigate quality of care concerns

Counsel physicians and APPs

Develop accountability standards
