Located in Phoenixville, PA, and a member of Tower Health, Phoenixville Hospital is a 144-bed facility that provides comprehensive medical services through emergency room visits, inpatient admissions, outpatient procedures and community outreach programs. Phoenixville Hospital's services include an award-winning cardiovascular program, a fully accredited cancer center, NAPBC-accredited breast health center, an acute inpatient rehabilitation center, and a large robotic surgery center. Phoenixville Hospital is accredited by The Joint Commission and has been recognized for its quality outcomes and clinical expertise across services lines that include joint replacement surgery, advanced heart failure care, and the designation as a Primary Stroke Center.

Responsibilities

Phoenixville NICU Medical Director:

The Department of Pediatrics at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children is seeking a leader for the role of Medical Director of the NICU at Phoenixville Hospital. The successful candidate will be one who has a proven record of dedication to patient care, experience with teaching, and whose interests include clinical and quality improvement research. The Medical Director must also possess outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills and have a solid foundation of operational experience. The Phoenixville Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a Level 2B unit and cares for infants who are born at 32 weeks gestation or greater. Phoenixville Hospital has over 1000 deliveries and the NICU has over 100 admissions each year. The NICU is staffed 24 hours a day by a team of 4 board-certified neonatologists and 1 neonatal nurse practitioner. The neonatologists also provide coverage of the Newborn Nursery. The unit's registered nurses have an average of 10 years' experience in neonatal intensive care. Our current group operates on a 24 hour shift schedule, with an experienced neonatal nurse practitioner in-house some nights to allow for beeper call from home, which affords a great work-life balance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain and continually update a strategic plan for the NICU to attain the highest quality of care for the patients in the NICU.
  • Develop appropriate policies to develop optimized care plans for the sick neonate
  • Annually review billing codes and billing efficiency.
  • Work with the Section at St. Christopher's to establish clinical and research relationships.
  • Develop and oversee work schedules for health care providers.
  • Develop and implement plans to improve patient satisfaction.
  • Provide adequate feedback to faculty. This must be done in a timely manner so that deviations from the goals can be addressed mid-year and improvements be recognized mid-year as well.

Qualifications

  • An MD, DO, or foreign equivalent with active board certification from the American Academy of Pediatrics in both Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.
  • Academic credentials for a faculty appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor is preferred.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the culture, needs, and aspirations of the community.
  • Ability to administer change in a complex academic environment through consensus building, collaboration, effective use of data, and the ability to influence and persuade.
  • Demonstrated record of program development, collaboration, community engagement, clinical care, education, and administration.
  • Excellent verbal, written and group presentation skills.
  • Ability to obtain an unrestricted medical license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to start date.
