Faculty Position - Los Angeles, CA
The Division of General Internal Medicine & Health Services Research in the Department of Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA invites applications for a faculty position with FTE support at the advanced Assistant, Associate, or Professor Rank in the field of Health Economics.
We seek to identify candidates with interest in analyzing the effects of health and healthcare policy and changes in healthcare delivery at any level including, but not limited to, federal, state, and local policies; structure of healthcare and insurance markets; social determinants of health; technological change in healthcare; and clinical policies. We welcome expertise in a broad range of topical areas, including but not limited to applied econometrics, research with large data sets, policy analysis, analysis of natural experiments, and simulation modeling. A collaborative ethos with demonstrated ability to lead and participate in research projects with social scientists and physician researchers is a requirement for this position. The department is seeking outstanding candidates with the potential for conducting exceptional research, excellence in teaching, and a clear commitment to enhancing the diversity of the faculty in the fields of public health and health services research.
Candidates are expected to continue to develop their own research program and obtain their own funding. An MD with board certification in Internal Medicine and a doctorate in economics or health economics is required for this position. Successful candidates will be involved in teaching research methods to postdoctoral fellows and other research trainees and will also have a secondary appointment in School of Public Health with opportunities to teach and mentor masters and doctoral students.
The Division has ongoing collaborations with Schools of Public Health, Public Policy, and RAND, the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, and multiple partnerships with local institutions and community organizations.
