Providence Oregon Regional Laboratory Services is seeking an initiative-taking Pathologist/Clinical Microbiologist to serve as the Medical Director of Clinical Microbiology. This position will provide leadership for the centralized microbiology laboratory with extension to eight hospital-based labs in the Providence Oregon region. The successful applicant will provide medical and technical direction for the lab and will be highly involved in consultation with infection disease physicians. This individual will be a subject matter expert for regional infection prevention and antimicrobial stewardship initiatives and will be a spokesperson for infectious disease testing at the Providence system level. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and an ability to collaborate effectively with technical staff, pathology colleagues, and clinicians. The Medical Director of Clinical Microbiology will be a member of the clinical pathology division and will join an expanding group of 30 pathologists and doctoral-level scientists. The individual selected for this position will enhance all areas of clinical microbiology including bacteriology, immunoserology, mycobacteriology, mycology, parasitology, and virology. In addition, the laboratory provides a comprehensive menu of molecular infectious disease testing, including laboratory-developed tests, and is accustomed to evaluating and implementing novel emerging technologies and diagnostics.

- Full-time position, with competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits
- Doctoral degree (MD or DO and/or PhD) with postdoctoral training in an accredited microbiology fellowship program (or equivalent experience)
- Board certification or eligibility in medical microbiology by either the American Board of Pathology or American Board of Medical Microbiology
- Molecular microbiology experience is preferred
- New postdoctoral fellowship graduates are welcome to apply
- Ability to obtain OR medical license required for MD and DO candidates
