University of Arizona Health Sciences and the College of Medicine – Tucson are hiring a Director of the new Clinical & Translational Sciences Institute (CTSI) that will oversee a broad range of translational and clinical research programs on the University of Arizona Health Science campus. The Director of the CTSI will chart the course for the new program by leveraging existing infrastructure and new opportunities brought about by the University of Arizona Health Sciences and Clinical Partners. The CTSI aggregates together under one administrative unit, the Clinical and Translational Sciences Research Center (CATS) where clinical research is currently ongoing and will expand into new space set for renovation in 2023, administration of the University’s All of Us NIH clinical research program, a highly successful career development and research education pathway with annually funded training slots for young investigators, and a robust apparatus for implementation of clinical research including research navigators/facilitators, regulatory services, recruitment resources, and a new electronic data warehouse.

The CTSI Director will set the vision of the CTSI and interface with academic and medical partners, the UA NCI Designated Cancer Center, and the broader University campus as well as external partners in Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona. Reporting to the Senior Vice President for the University of Arizona Health Sciences, the Director will identify new strategic opportunities in translational clinical research, develop new pathways for implementation of clinical research and interface with community, academic and government leaders to build clinical research programs that leverage the strength of the region, diverse communities and innovation in healthcare technology and opportunities to examine and enrich boarder health.

The CTSI Director will be a forward-thinking, physician-investigator with experience in clinical care, longstanding history of implementing successful clinical research programs, and a strong ability to collaborate across disciplines, integrate innovative technologies into clinical research pathways and draw connections between seemingly disparate fields of investigation. The successful candidate will be supported by an infrastructure for clinical research that already manages a wealth of clinical research, including clinical trials, investigator-initiated studies, and bench-to-bedside programs.

Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance plans; life insurance and disability programs; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; state and optional retirement plans; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more!
