Job Details

The Northwell Health Cancer Institute seeks a full-time, board-certified oncologist or hematologic oncologist to oversee the clinical performance of and provide the overall strategic direction for Lenox Hill Hospital’s medical oncology and hematology program. We are seeking an accomplished leader in oncology care and clinical research who will work to enhance patient care and lead innovative, cutting-edge research initiatives. On a regional level, the new Chief will spearhead the development of a multidisciplinary GI cancer care service, optimize care, and enhance clinical research.

The Chief will lead a team including surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, nurses, social workers, geneticists, and counselors. This multidisciplinary approach ensures that we provide the best care and outcome possible while meeting all your physical and emotional needs. Our dedicated inpatient oncology unit and outpatient infusion and radiation centers are staffed by specially trained oncology-certified nurses. The distinguished faculty at Lenox Hill Hospital have trained and worked at some of the most prestigious academic institutions in their fields and have achieved regional, national, and international recognition for their work in clinical care, research, and education.

Our practice, located in the engaging Upper East Side neighborhood of Manhattan is a boutique, patient-centered program housed within Lenox Hill Hospital. Our clinicians and patients move seamlessly among Lenox Hill Hospital, Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital (MEETH), and our nearby practices, all of which share an electronic medical record, so your care is always coordinated. Medical oncology treatments such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy are provided in a brand-new infusion center at MEETH.

The Cancer Center at Lenox Hill Hospital is part of the Northwell Health Cancer Institute, which treats more than 16,000 patients with cancer, giving patients access to the services of more than 200 Cancer Institute physicians in more than 25 sub-specialties. The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research is home to Northwell Health’s research and is an epicenter for scientific discovery and innovation, including basic science and clinical research in molecular medicine, genetics, oncology, brain research, mental health, autoimmunity, and bioelectronic medicine. In 2015, Northwell Health and Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory began a strategic affiliation to accelerate cancer research, diagnosis and treatment. This collaboration offers the ability to deliver cancer therapeutics to patients throughout the region, while also meeting the comprehensive medical and surgical needs of those with cancer and at risk of the disease.

Northwell Health is committed to training, supporting, and nurturing physicians from all backgrounds. We fully understand that diversity is integral for our institutional excellence and a means to attaining health equity. As a result our diversity and inclusion efforts are a part of everything we do, from education, to clinical care, to research, to physician well-being. Diversity and inclusion permeates our educational and clinical initiatives. We have set a goal to make sure every one of our physicians receives training on how to deliver high quality, culturally competent care. Our recent educational areas of focus have been on social determinants of health, community engagement and developing a medical-legal partnership for our physicians-in-training. One of our many strengths is our diverse patient population and our expectation is that our diverse patient populations receive equitable care, irrespective of who they are. As a result, we continually recruit a diverse physician workforce to meet the needs of our diverse patients.
