The Division of Hematology-Oncology at MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC) invites applications for a hematologist with experience. The successful candidate should be board-certified or board-eligible in hematology. Certification in medical oncology is desirable, but not essential. The Washington Cancer Institute (WCI) at MedStar Washington Hospital Center has a group of hematologists and subspecialty oncologists and partners with Lombardi Cancer Center at Georgetown University in clinical care, research, and education. MedStar Washington Hospital Center is a 900-bed, academic medical center in the nation’s capital. The Hematology-Oncology section has a fully accredited fellowship program. Full-time faculty members at MedStar Washington Hospital Center are eligible for academic faculty positions with Georgetown University School of Medicine.
The candidate will be responsible for managing hospitalized and ambulatory patients with a wide spectrum of benign and malignant hematologic diseases and for providing consultation for MedStar Washington Hospital Center medical and surgical services, including a robust Heart and Vascular Institute. The hematologist will be expected to serve as a clinical educator for fellows, residents, and rotating medical students. There are opportunities to be engaged in clinical research.
