The Cleveland Clinic, one of the worlds most distinguished academic medical centers announces a search for a Staff Anesthesiologist in the Department of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology in the Anesthesiology Institute.

Cleveland Clinic's Anesthesiology Institute unites all specialists in pain management, general anesthesia, pediatric & congenital heart anesthesia, cardiothoracic anesthesia and critical care, regional practice, outcomes research and education within one fully integrated model of care to improve diagnosis, medical management and quality of life for our patients. This innovative model of care allows patients to better access the services they need through our six specialized, multidisciplinary departments and more than 15 subspecialized sections. We strive to advance anesthesia through clinical excellence, education, innovation and people. Our internationally recognized medical staff and dedicated support team perform more than 200,000 procedures annually.

We have one of the largest anesthesiology residency training programs in the country, accepting about 20 new residents annually with the cardiothoracic fellowship being the largest program in the country accepting 16 fellows each year. The Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Department staff includes 25 physicians and 26 CRNAs, providing care for over 8,000 surgical cases annually.

Duties: The Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio provides full perioperative anesthesia services within the cardiothoracic anesthesia department and collaborate with their peers within the Heart and Vascular Institute. The provided services include the perioperative care of adult patients undergoing cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgical procedures, including insertion of mechanical assist devices, heart and/or lung transplantation and percutaneous interventions.

Requirements: MD or foreign equivalent as determined by a credentials evaluation or as evidenced by an ECFMG certificate, completion of an ACGME accredited 1 year Cardiothoracic Fellowship, Board Eligibility or Certification in Anesthesiology, Advanced Perioperative Trans esophageal Echocardiography and eligibility for Ohio medical licensure. A strong interest in the teaching and academic activities of the Department is expected.
