Job Description

Ophthalmologist - Medical Retina

Summit Health is seeking a Medical Retina Specialist who would like the opportunity to expand a thriving practice within a financially secure, physician-driven, multispecialty setting. Enjoy practicing in "the Jackson Hole of Oregon!"

The ideal candidate will be fellowship trained and Board certified/eligible, proficient in intravitreal injection and retinal laser, and experienced in diagnosing and treating the broad scope of vitreous and retinal pathology. You will join a clinic composed of a fellowship-trained oculoplastic surgeon, cataract/anterior segment surgeon, and two optometrists. Our current retina specialist is relocating out of state. The incoming ophthalmologist will see 25-35+ patients a day principally within medical retina, and there is no primary surgical call if your practice is non-surgical, focused on Medical Retina.

Summit Health includes more than 140 providers and 30 specialties providing care to over 45,000 attributed lives in Central Oregon. Summit Health is Central Oregon's largest multispecialty group and is a for-profit, physician-led practice with multiple locations. Ophthalmology provides services in Bend and usually one day a week each in Redmond.

As part of our team, you'll enjoy:

  • Physician led and professionally managed multispecialty group, established in 1946.
  • Market competitive salary with high earning potential and a robust bonus program.
  • Shareholder opportunity after two years with nominal buy in.
  • Benefits of working within a growing multispecialty medical practice:
    • Primary care, endocrinology, rheumatology, neurology, ENT, general surgery, and most other subspecialty care.
    • Comprehensive support teams for insurance authorization, billing, IT, HR, etc.
    • Onsite laboratory, radiology, and other services

Opportunities are available to maintain surgical skills in general ophthalmology. Surgical procedures are performed in an efficient, surgery center across the street. The main regional hospital is also within walking distance from the main eye clinic. If interested in continuing a comprehensive practice, to include cataract surgery, surgical Call responsibilities are shared among a very collegial group of 8-10 other ophthalmologists in the community.

Located east of the Cascade Mountains, Bend enjoys 300 days of sunshine annually, four beautiful seasons, and a wonderful high desert climate. World class skiing (30 minutes from main clinic location), and award-winning fishing, golf, water sports, cycling and hiking all contribute to a high-quality of life for our employees and all Central Oregon residents. The Bend/Redmond and surrounding communities offer excellent schools, countless outdoor and cultural activities, great food and entertainment. Bend is consistently considered among the best places to live by Sunset Magazine, Bike Magazine, CNN, Newsweek, Travel+Leisure and Golf Magazine.

We offer competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits package, and a dynamic practice experience.
