About the Position:

The Department of Medicine/Medicine Service Line is seeking a seasoned physician leader for the position of Vice Chair, Clinical Operations. Responsibilities and tasks of the role include:

  • Working with the chair on all matters related to clinical operations.
  • Earn the trust and confidence of department and hospital leadership, administrators, physicians, and staff.
  • Ensure high quality patient care through development and standardization of care processes and protocols, educational seminars, metrics, outcome measures, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in managing the department in a fiscally responsible manner.
  • Ensure the productivity of physician faculty and support staff.

The position is within the Department of Medicine at North Shore University Hospital and Long Island Jewish Medical Center, the largest Department of Medicine in the health system with over 300 faculty and nearly 250 residents and fellows. The department provides care for patients with a broad range of diseases in numerous specialties, including but not limited to: Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, General Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, Hepatology, Hospital Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Medical Ethics, Nephrology, Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine, and Rheumatology.

Candidate Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • MD Degree or equivalent from an accredited College of Medicine
  • Completion of residency with Board Certification or eligibility.
  • Currently licensed as a physician in the State of New York.
  • Outstanding communication and management skills, and an ability to work collaboratively with medical staff, hospital management, and staff.
  • Experience leading a hospital-centric service such as Hospital Medicine or Infectious Diseases in an academic medical center.

Salary Disclosure

Full-time clinical base compensation at Northwell Health ranges from $125K to $750K, which is impacted by various factors, including but not limited to physician specialty, level of experience, quality of care, academic accomplishments, patient experience and productivity. The base compensation range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
