The Department of Pulmonology at Denver Health is recruiting an energetic and talented emergency physician to join our staff. Denver Health is a nationally recognized model for integration of a safety-net acute-care hospital, a network of community health centers, a city and county public health department, and a regional poison center. Additionally, Denver Health is the major academic affiliate of the University Of Colorado School of Medicine, and the home institution for the Denver Health Residency in Emergency Medicine.

Job Summary

Physicians and surgeons diagnose illnesses, prescribe, and administer treatment for people suffering from injury and/or disease. Physicians examine patients, obtain medical histories, and order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests. Surgeons specialize in the treatment of injury, disease, and deformity through operations. Documents all services in patient medical record. Serves as faculty members of the University of Colorado, School of Medicine.

 Responsibilities

  1. Physicians at Denver Health are faculty members of the University of Colorado School of Medicine serve as teachers for students seeking clinical experience at Denver Health and provide education for post graduate medical trainees.
  2. Focus on Superior Patient Care by 1) practicing evidence-based, high-quality state-of-the art medicine; 2) encourage increased patient understanding, involvement in care, and treatment decisions; 3) achieve and maintain optimal patient access; 4) insist on departmental focus on superior patient service; and 5) participate in or support education and research.
  3. Collaborate on Care Delivery by 1) including staff, other physicians and management in both service and patient care improvements; 2) treat all members with respect; 3) demonstrate the highest levels of ethical and professional conduct; and 4) behave in a manner consistent with Denver Health goals.

Education and Experience

  • Graduation from an Accredited Medical School and completed Accredited Residency Programs and fellowships for specialist, or equivalent.
  • Board Certified.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  1. Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures, and techniques.
  2. Thorough knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient treatment.
  3. Able to effectively manage and direct medical staff support activities while providing quality medical care.
  4. Able to receive detailed information through oral communications; express or exchange ideas by verbal communications.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communications, listening, and social skills.
  6. Able to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels, and value systems.
  7. Performs in a tactful and professional manner.
  8. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
  9. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
