Want to provide challenging and meaningful work for the good of every patient? Join our growing team at the brand new Bloomington Hospital in Bloomington, IN! We are seeking a patient-focused Palliative Care Physician to collaborate with our highly-skilled, well-established teams. This position will work with a truly interdisciplinary team of seasoned, compassionate physicians, and will serve those most in need. In addition to managing the symptoms, our team serves those with serious illness and helps them determine their goals of care.

Position Details:
  • Schedule: M-F day shift
  • On-Call: Rotation Based - 30 minute response time if needed in hospital
  • 95% inpatient/5% outpatient
  • Key Responsibilities: seeing patients, leading family meetings, writing orders and writing notes.
  • Possibility of teaching opportunities for medical students and there are two residencies (FM & IM) launching in the next couple of years!
  • Team: 4 Physicians and 4 Advanced Providers, practicing at top of scope
  • Patient Volume: 6 patients per week in office/20 patients per week in hospital

Qualifications:
  • Candidate must be American Board Eligible or Board Certified
  • IN medical license expected at time of employment

Healthcare System/Hospital Description

IU Health Bloomington Hospital and Regional Academic Health Center is a not-for-profit organization and has a patient base of 413,000 in 10 counties (Brown, Daviess, Greene, Jackson, Lawrence, Martin, Monroe, Morgan, Orange, and Owen).

The new facility opened in December 2021 and uses an acuity-adaptable model of care to minimize unnecessary patient transportation between units. In addition, the hospital offers a personalized approach to inpatient services (including intensive care, complex surgeries and comprehensive obstetrics and gynecology services), outpatient services with leading-edge diagnostic testing, flexible space in the emergency department for post-care observation, a dedicated trauma center and a cancer infusion center.

At the same time, the facility strengthens healthcare education by providing space for collaboration and coordination of care and teaching. Students and trainees will frequently come to the hospital side of the facility for clinical experiences.
