The Department of General Surgery at Cleveland Clinic is currently seeking applicants for the Medical Director of Hillcrest Hospital Breast Program. Candidates should be Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery with fellowship training in Surgical Oncology or Breast Surgery.

The Cleveland Clinic Breast Center is a national referral center, comprised of surgical and medical breast specialists, and psychologists. A full array of services ranges from initial screening and diagnosis to innovative breast cancer treatment and management of high risk patients for breast cancer. The Breast Center has achieved Full Accreditation from the American College of Surgeons' National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). As such, candidates should have leadership experience with NAPBC accreditation and standards.

The ideal candidate for the Medical Director of the Hillcrest Hospital Breast Program should be a recognized leader within Surgical Oncology or Breast Surgery as an outstanding clinician, educator and scholar, who supports research and education within a multi-specialty organization. The Medical Director will have ultimate responsibility for the clinical, educational, research and fiscal oversight within the Hillcrest Hospital Breast Program in order to achieve personal and institutional successes.

As one of five locations of the Cleveland Clinic Breast Program, the physicians and patients have all the benefits provided by the Cleveland Clinic while receive care close to home in the community setting. This opportunity allows one to practice in the community hospital environment while having all the advantages of an academic program. These responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Teaching medical students, residents and fellows.
  • Patients having the opportunity to participate in cooperative group clinical trials and clinical research.
  • Take on leadership roles to help improve patient care and become involved with an engaged community.
  • Head of the Hillcrest Hospital NAPBC accredited Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Program.
  • Weekend call rotation for breast only cases.
