Duke Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is seeking an ABOG certified (or eligible) gynecologic surgeon to join the Division of Womens Community and Population Health at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The ideal candidate will be highly trained, have strong gynecologic surgery skills, experience as a medical educator, and dedicated to providing equitable and inclusive care.

This position is a joint appointment with the Durham Veterans Administration Medical Center with 60% effort at Duke Health and 40% effort at the Durham VAMC:
  • Responsibilities at Duke Health will include covering the resident continuity clinic, inpatient gynecology service and emergency coverage at Duke University Hospital, and ambulatory care at local Health Departments and Lincoln Community Health Center gynecology clinic. Opportunities to provide complex family planning care in our family planning clinic are also available as part of this position.
  • Responsibilities at the Durham VA Medical Center will include 20 hours of clinical care per week covering outpatient gynecology clinic, ER coverage, gynecologic surgery, and inpatient service. The VA outpatient clinic is housed within a multidisciplinary womens health clinic and offers same-day gynecologic procedures and bedside ultrasounds while working with a variety of medical learners. Robotic surgery opportunities available to qualified candidates at both institutions.

Position Provides General Gynecology Services, including:
  • Full screening and preventative services for women from teenage years to postmenopausal care.
  • Gynecologic surgical services from in office procedures to inpatient surgeries, including vaginal, abdominal, and minimally invasive gynecologic surgical cases.
  • Basic Reproductive and Infertility and GYN Oncology evaluations with referral to REI and/or Gyn Oncology at Duke University Medical Center.
  • Working within different collaborative care organizations and providing care for a diverse patient population
  • Providing medical education and supervision to resident physicians, advanced practice providers, and medical and allied health students.
  • Access to world class OB/GYN specialists, education and research.
